Airdrie remain pointless in the league, having lost their second league match of the new season. While Airdrie will rightly feel hard done by, County will slip out of the town like thieves in the night.

A sucker goal early in the second half left the home side floundering and the visitors unable to believe their luck.

The home side dominated the first period and produced at least four good scoring opportunities.

One of those fell to the club captain Stephen Docherty. Running into the box from a wide position, he glanced a header just wide from a super cross by David Dunn.

Minutes later Paul Lovering crossed into the box only for striker Brian McPhee to miss the ball completely.

On the half hour we had a glimpse of what County could do. A Stephen McGarry cross was met by Stuart Taylor, but his effort was narrowly off target.

Paul Lovering broke down the wing from the goal kick before crossing into McPhee. This time the former Hamilton Accies striker, now enjoying his second spell at Airdrie, headed powerfully downwards. Although on target his effort was well saved on the line.

On the stroke of half-time McPhee turned provider and sent in a deep cross that was well met by Steven McDougall. However, once again it was off target and the chance was gone.

County broke the deadlock after 49 minutes. From a goal-kick the keeper blasted a long ball deep into Airdrie's half. It took a vicious bounce, and while two home defenders debated what to do, County's McGarry nipped in and shot home from 16 yards.

Airdrie never looked like they could recover and the points were lost.
