Donnelly shines brightest in thriller

Airdrie striker Ryan Donnelly's hat-trick was not enough for victory as Forfar claimed a 4-4 draw in an enthralling encounter.

Christopher Templeman put Forfar ahead on 17 minutes, crashing home Ross Campbell's centre, but United hit back after half an hour thanks to Donnelly's clinical finish from the edge of the area.

Donnelly got his second just shy of the hour mark by neatly converting following good work from Jamie Bain.

Forfar equalised in stunning fashion two minutes later as Kevin Motion curled a long-range effort into the top corner

And the away side scored again just a couple of minutes later thanks to Templeman, who slotted home.

Airdrie responded 10 minutes later when Donnelly completed his hat-trick with a bullet header from Bain's cross, but Forfar went ahead again 12 minutes from time as Kevin Byers fired into the bottom corner.

Airdrie equalised once again, though, as John Boyle cleverly finished from six yards.
