Airdrie hold on for point

Brechin dropped to eighth place in Scottish Second Division after being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by 10-man Airdrie.

It was the Diamonds who edged in front after 13 minutes when Rhys Devlin's pass found top scorer Ryan Donnelly and the striker stroked the ball into the bottom corner for his 10th goal of the season.

Airdrie were reduced to 10 men in the 25th minute when Kieron Stallard was shown red for a bad foul on Graham Weir and Connor Fairley tipped Charlie King's effort wide from the resultant free-kick.

Brechin levelled five minutes after the restart when substitute Nathan Blockley fouled King in the area and the veteran picked himself up to smash home the penalty, but City failed to go on and press home their numerical advantage.
