Narrow lead for Sons

Dumbarton will take a slender advantage into their First Division play-off final second leg after a 2-1 home win over Airdrie.

The Sons, bidding to secure promotion to the second tier of Scottish football for the first time in 16 years, took a 2-0 lead inside 32 minutes.

Bryan Prunty opened the scoring in the 29th minute, latching on to a Mark Gilhaney cross before firing into the top corner from 12 yards.

They then doubled their advantage, Anthony Wallace heading home Scott Agnew's free-kick.

Airdrie pulled a goal back three minutes before half-time from the penalty spot.

Wallace was adjudged to have fouled Jamie Stevenson and although Jamie Bain saw his initial kick parried by Stephen Grindlay, he converted the rebound.

The visitors came closest to a leveller after the break but Grindlay produced a fine finger-tip save to keep out Stevenson's 18-yard effort.
