Bairns edge past United

Falkirk survived a late scare as they edged past struggling Airdrie 4-3.

The hosts took the lead after nine minutes when Lyle Taylor finished from close range after some good work by Jay Fulton.

Stewart Murdoch doubled their advantage in stunning fashion after 24 minutes when he beat Kenny Arthur with a low effort from 25 yards.

Victory looked assured 10 minutes before the break when Taylor scrambled in his second on the line, but substitute Paul Di Giacomo pulled one back from the penalty spot just before the hour mark after Darren Dods fouled Gregor Buchanan.

But Dods made amends in the 73rd minute, nodding in Fulton's cross before William McLaren pulled another back three minutes from time with a thumping effort from distance.

John Boyle set up a nervy finish after netting from six yards in the final minute but the Bairns held on for all three points.
