Airdrie keep marching on

Ten-man Airdrie recorded a fifth consecutive victory to maintain their promotion push with an emphatic 3-0 demolition of Stenhousemuir.

The visitors got off to a flying start when Sean Lynch picked up Derek Holmes ball to fire home from close range after seven minutes.

William McLaren had an opportunity to add the second from the spot on the half-hour mark after Iain Thomson felled Ryan Donnelly, but the kick cannoned back off the crossbar.

However, McLaren did make amends on the stroke of half-time with a superb effort from distance to double their advantage going into the break.

Victory was all but ensured nine minutes from time when substitute Nathan Blockley let fly from an acute angle to beat Alistair Brown.

Sean Lynch put the only blemish on the Diamond's performance when he was shown a second yellow card in injury time.
