Donnelly double downs Stirling

Ryan Donnelly scored twice to keep Airdrie's play-off hopes intact with a 2-0 win against rock-bottom Stirling.

Donnelly gave the visitors the lead on 20 minutes when his drilled finish found the bottom corner of the net from close range.

Kevin Kelbie then went close for the hosts before Donnelly headed in Sean Lynch's cross to double United's lead.

After the break Stirling, who were without the injured Shaun Fagan and Andy Hunter, attempted to hit back through Alan Cook but his fierce effort was comfortably saved by Grant Adam.

Mark Ferry then missed for the hosts while Darren Smith spurned a close-range volley.

Donnelly should have got his hat-trick 16 minutes from time but his shot was meek and Reidford was more than equal to it.
